The Right Technology for Tough Jobs
Whether you are working with a deviated well or need maximum power for heavy oil, you want the best possible
performance and greatest ease of maintenance. The Highland Rotafle~ unit-a long-stroke pumping system
for sucker-rod pumping-reduces both your energy costs and well-workover time compared to conventional units. In
deep, deviated, horizontal, high-liquid-volume, gaseous, or otherwise challenging wells, the Rotaflex unit can lift more
than conventional units and with fewer strokes. This longstroke unit is especially effective for heavy oil applications.
The Rotaflex unit often allows using reciprocating-rod pump systems instead of electrical submersible pumps
(ESPs) or hydraulic subsurface pumps. The unit size and reversing mechanism can create up to a full 366-in. surface
stroke, which results in operational savings and increased productivity. In fact, the Rotaflex unit can save you up to
30 percent in electrical costs over conventional pumping units, and up to 50 percent in energy savings over ESPs. In
wells with a high frequency of failures, the Rotaflex unit can reduce rod parts, prevents pump problems, increases run
times, and lessens workover costs.
Going Beyond Conventional Pumping Units
The Rotaflex unit offers increased flexibility with a unique and field-proven mechanical reversing mechanism, virtually
no minimum speed, and longer strokes that result in more complete barrel tillage. In fact, well-analysis reports show
the Rotaflex unit repeatedly performing at up to 61.2 percent efficiency level, and dynamometer card results are similar to a theoretically perfect card. When compared to conventional units, Rotaflex units have a number of advantages:

• Extended stroke length and unique design to allow fewer cycles and reversals, which results in energy cost savings
through high system efficiency
• One-piece shipping for ease of service and installation
• Lower kilowatt requirement due to smaller gear reducer torque
• Significant reduction of dynamic loading
• Better pump-compression ratio to reduce or eliminate gaslock problems
• A long-life, heavy-duty load belt to act as a shock
absorber and reduce stress on the entire system
Rotaflex units are available worldwide and are operating in every hydrocarbon region. Your Petro-top representative
can assist you with choosing the option that is best for your application.
